Empty bowls event helps fill the stomach of those in need

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Enjoy gourmet soups, music, and games during the annual Empty Bowl event for Volunteers of America Northern Rockies. Over the past few weeks, community members painted over 600 bowls for the fundraiser. The way the event works is people first pick out a bowl and then taste 38 types of soups. After you’re done you can take the bowl home with you.

A move made in 2020, when the pandemic closed testing sites across the U.S.In response, the South Dakota Board of Regents changed its admissions guidelines to allow a test-optional format. This means students could choose whether or not to submit their testing scores when applying to one of their six public universities.
