BLOOMINGTON — If you feel like inflation is affecting everything these days, consider one more: Soon you may need to offer a nickel for someone’s thoughts. The penny is on its way out, and the U.S. Mint won’t be making more. The move, confirmed by the Treasury on Thursday, follows President Donald Trump's announcement in February that he had ordered his administration to end production of the 1-cent coin as a commonsense cost-savings measure.

FAIRBURY — Late Thursday morning, a group of children ranging from age 4 to 9, wearing green tie dye shirts, sat on some bleachers enjoying scoops of ice cream. They were celebrating the completion of the new Intergenerational Center in Fairbury for the Boys & Girls Club of Livingston County. The young ice cream enthusiasts were thinking about what sports they would play inside that gym. Most said dodgeball, but 7-year-old Avery Potter wanted to play kickball.

Just read @d_jack_alkire 2023 article on #WWII vet Roy Lee Redding. There’s a small group of kids/grandkids of other LST 504 sailors that would love to be in touch with him and his family. My Pap never told his story, so ask questions and research to learn more for our family. https://t.co/4jkM3U0ZNw
