The Seine River School Division (SRSD) is hoping to harvest a crop of new leaders with the launch of a new program. Colin Campbell, superintendent of the SRSD says it's called "Illuminate," and is intended to give staff the opportunity to grow their leadership skills for the benefit of their schools. A Steinbach teen is going to be next year's recipient of a brand new, custom wheelchair through Tabs for Wheelchairs. Shannon Broesky is 13-year-old Delainey's mom, and says she was given the news in a phone call less than a month ago. "It seemed like a perfect fit. It was really cool, and I may have cried," she says. Delainey has a genetic condition called Trisomy 13, also known as Patau syndrome, Broesky explains, noting that it's incredibly rare.

Reports say manure was spilled on the road there. As of 4:30 p.m. a group of people were cleaning the area, blocking one lane of traffic. The Rural Municipality (RM) of Taché has implemented its most severe fire restrictions due to hot and dry weather conditions in the area. Fire Chief Allan Rau with the RM's fire department says this means no fires are allowed at any time. Gas barbeque usage is still permitted. "We have not gotten, as we all know, any precipitation of any substantial (amount) over the last week, week and a half. And the area, with this wind, is drying out very, very quickly—what isn't already dry," he says.

Jo-Anne Dalton, executive director of the Steinbach Family Resource Centre (SFRC) is a mom of three, and wants to encourage those tackling the challenges of motherhood that they're not alone. "Each one of my kids has been a different experience, and continues to be a different experience," she says. "It can be hard.
