INDIANAPOLIS (WISH-TV) — Miss Chica, a German wire-haired pointer with a nose for explosives, made her first television appearance Thursday on WISH-TV’s midday broadcast. The young dog is currently in training to become a bomb detection dog at the Indianapolis International Airport. Keith Gray, her handler, appeared alongside Patty Spitler from Pet Pals TV to discuss the important role these dogs play in keeping travelers safe. Gray is a seasoned handler and is no stranger to the work.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers were stationed throughout the 500 Festival Mini-Marathon last weekend, keeping a close eye on safety, but they didn’t stop there. On the city’s east side, officers took time between duties to engage with children along the course, offering high-fives, flashing squad car lights, and sharing smiles. For many kids, those moments offered a friendly and up-close look at officers in a way that felt far less intimidating.

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Two juveniles were arrested by IMPD robbery detectives for their roles in an attempted robbery, the department said in a release. The incident happened on Saturday in the 1400 block of North Bosart Avenue. IMPD says a group of juveniles attempted to rob a man as he was getting into his car. The suspects threatened him tried to take his keys, cellphone, and wallet. He managed to shut his car door, prompting the juveniles to flee.
