Davis, 35, of Granite City, was charged on May 9, 2025 with his second offense of domestic battery, a Class 4 felony. On May 5, 2025, Davis allegedly struck a household or family member in the face with a closed fist and “struck her on the left thigh with an iPad, causing pain,” according to court documents.

ALTON – An agreement to lay the groundwork for a planned Germania Brew Haus drive-thru location in Alton will soon face consideration from city officials. The Alton Committee of the Whole is set to vote Monday, May 12, 2025 on a redevelopment agreement between the city and G1 Germania Brew Haus Alton, LLC, to redevelop property at 700 E. Broadway in Alton. The coffee shop announced earlier this year that it plans to relocate from its original location just down the street at 617 E.

BRIGHTON/COTTAGE HILLS – Two area residents face felony charges in separate cases of stolen vehicle possession. Chase S. Manns, 22, of Brighton, was charged on April 30, 2025 with a Class 2 felony count of unlawful possession of a stolen motor vehicle (a Class 2 felony) and possession of a controlled substance (a Class 4 felony). On Feb. 23, 2025, Manns allegedly received and possessed a blue 2018 Ford Fusion with an Illinois registration number, knowing the vehicle was stolen.

Wood River City Council MeetingWOOD RIVER – Members of the Wood River City Council on Monday approved an agreement to renovate a former pizza restaurant in hopes of attracting a coffee shop and/or bakery to fill the vacant space. Council members approved a redevelopment agreement with Wood River Properties LLC to renovate the property at 7 N. Wood River Ave. The site was the former home of 1929 Pizza & Wine, which has since moved to Edwardsville after initially opening in Wood River in 2022.

ALTON – A man from Alton faces his fourth domestic battery charge and more after allegedly tying up the victim and threatening them with a box cutter. Travis L. Watley, 40, of Alton, was charged with one count each of aggravated unlawful restraint and domestic battery, the latter charge being his fourth or subsequent such offense. Both charges were filed on April 29, 2025 and classified as Class 3 felonies.

BETHALTO – A man from Alton has been released from custody on electronic monitoring and other conditions after an incident of domestic violence unfolded at a Bethalto residence. Warren E. Wood River City Council MeetingWOOD RIVER – The Wood River City Council has taken the first steps to sell the Wood River Business Park, formerly known as the Envirotech Business Park, to a new owner for further development. Council members on Monday approved an ordinance to declare the 105-acre site of undeveloped land along Enviro Way in Wood River “surplus” property and authorize its sale to a new owner.
