Continuing my series on Roster Construction Season (started with last week's ten storylines), it's the perfect time for a useful top twenty-five ranking. At this point in the transfer portal cycle, most teams have filled out at least half of their likely rotation for next season, but still have holes to fill. At the same time, the top end talent in the transfer portal is now somewhat depleted, leaving many of best teams competing with each other for players who they may not have a backup plan for.

The transfer portal has been open for nearly a month and there’s already been dozens if not hundreds of moves in the world of college basketball. Regardless of some crazy transfer news and great players changing schools, the portal may have gained its best player yet with this recent announcement from PJ Haggerty, who had an All-American season with Memphis last year. Haggerty is a 6-3 guard out of Crosby, Texas who landed at TCU to begin his collegiate career.

One very important factor in the transfer portal nowadays is that it allows new head coaches to quicker build their programs. Darian DeVries has a lot to prove to the Hoosier faithful in the years to come, but landed another important transfer in Lamar Wilkerson, a talented scorer who comes by way of Sam Houston State. Wilkerson is a 6-4 guard originally from Ashdown, Arkansas who wasn’t exactly on a ton of radars out of high school.

Auburn finds a new frontcourt weapon, landing Mississippi State forward KeShawn Murphy out of the transfer portal. In recent years, Auburn has made a killing with their talented frontcourts, from Jabari Smith and Walker Kessler to recent dominance from Johni Broome. Perhaps the next chapter for Bruce Pearl’s program is being written this week, as the Tigers have landed KeShawn Murphy in the transfer portal.
