Andrew Lynch, Wausau’s economic development manager, confirmed the meeting will be rescheduled. The meeting was intended to give residents in the area – between Bridge Street and DeKalb Street – an opportunity to share input, concerns, and ideas.

Damakant JayshiMayor Doug Diny on Friday vetoed the Wausau City Council’s decision to sell three city-owned lots on the 200 block of Wyatt Street, citing concerns raised by an alder that include the sale price. In a news release sent Friday, Diny said Dist. 3 Alder Terry Kilian raised several concerns during the council’s May 13 meeting that he agrees warrants more discussion. The veto is Diny’s third since taking office in April of last year.

Damakant JayshiThe Marathon County Board of Supervisors on Thursday unanimously appointed Jerry Kurth of the Town of Mosinee to represent Dist. 35, filling a vacancy left by Jacob Langenhahn’s resignation last month. District 35 includes the towns of Emmet (Ward 2), Marathon and Mosinee. Kurth will serve the remainder of Langenhahn’s term, which runs through the third Tuesday of April 2026. He was also appointed to the Environmental Resources Committee, which Langenhahn chaired before stepping down.

Damakant JayshiA sharply divided Wausau City Council on Tuesday approved an amendment to Tax Increment District 8, allowing its funding to be used for development projects within a half-mile of the district’s boundaries. The amendment – the fourth to the TID 8 project plan – enables the city to use tax increment funds on properties located just outside the district but within the half-mile radius.
