Dance students get to show culture through dance in their pieces in the upcoming dance ensemble show by having costumes and drums specially made in Africa at LBCC on Friday and Saturday. Long Beach City College President Dr. Mike Munoz has been very supportive of the dance program and funded the dance faculty to travel to Africa this past summer to shop for fabric for costumes and get big drums to use on stage during the show for one of their African pieces.

The part time and full time faculty displayed their frustration in working without a contract for over 110 days through a protest, shouting chants like “show us respect” and “let us speak” at the latest board of trustees meeting. “The (board) president has not responded to my calls, has not responded to my emails. If you are offended, we have to keep moving,” said Suzanne Engelhardt, Long Beach City College Faculty Association president.

The Long Beach City College Bistro has finally opened for all students, faculty, and the public to give the food a try. It took some time to open because the head chef thought it was a good idea to refresh all the students’ memories and train them a bit before they officially open.
