    According to officials from the County of Midland and the Village of Sanford, the Federal Emergency Management Agency owes those two municipalities a total of more than $1 million related to the aftermath of the 2020 flood damage from the Edenville Dam breach. Sanford Village President Dolores Porte said the village is owed about $600,000 between a public assistance grant and a hazard mitigation grant to pay for the rebuilding of its village park that was destroyed by the flooding.

    Midland Public Schools welcomed three administrators to new positions and bid a fond farewell to a retiring principal at Monday night's Board of Education meeting. New Central Park Elementary Principal Chelsea Sauve, new Siebert Elementary Principal Katie Rinke and new Dow High Assistant Principal/Athletic Director Kevin Schwedler each spoke briefly to the board after their hirings were approved.
