    MIAMI, Okla. — A one-car fatal crash on the Will Rogers Turnpike Thursday has claimed the life of an Illinois man, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Landon Hughes, 20, of Belleville, Illinois, was taken to Mercy Joplin in critical condition, where he later died, the patrol said. The cause of the crash, which happened around 3 p.m. at mile marker 317, about three miles northeast of Miami, is under investigation.

    PITTSBURG, KS — Three Pitt State track athletes picked up honors from the U.S. Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association this week. For men’s track athlete of the year in the central region, PSU’s Dapriest Hogans received the honor. Hogans won the 200 meter dash national title, took third place in the 100 meter dash, and helped the Gorillas in the 4×400 meter relay. Looking at women’s field events, Blakelee Winn earned field athlete of the year honors for Pitt State.

    MIAMI, Okla. – The Oklahoma Medical Examiner ruled a man found deceased in a Miami residence died from an accidental drug overdose. The remains of Mark Tollette, 55, of Miami were found Feb. 1. The eight-page autopsy report released on Wednesday shows Tollette died from acute methamphetamine toxicity. It was also noted he had hypertensive cardiovascular disease, and no “lethal trauma,” the autopsy report states.
