A 19-year-old man was killed and a 20-year-man was injured in a shooting in north-central Omaha early Sunday morning. Shortly after 2:30 a.m., police officers went to a neighborhood near 62nd Street and Camden Avenue. They found Ashtin Fletcher dead with a gunshot wound. Officers found a 20-year-old man nearby injured from a gunshot wound. Omaha Fire Department medics took the man to the Nebraska Medical Center. His injury is not believed to be life-threatening.

The Nebraska State Patrol and Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles said text messages threatening legal action against drivers are part of a scam. The state agencies said the texts targeted numerous Nebraskans on Saturday. A press release from both agencies said the phishing scam involves a text message purportedly from the DMV claiming that the recipient has unpaid traffic fines and that several penalties are possible unless the recipient clicks a link to pay the supposed fines.

A 34-year-old woman who’s waiting to be sentenced in connection to a fiery downtown Omaha crash that killed her three children and one other man has been charged with assaulting a fellow Douglas County jail inmate. Rachel Bickerstaff has been charged with assault by a confined person. The charge comes after Bickerstaff allegedly assaulted the woman on Thursday, according to court documents, in the jail. No further details about the incident were available.
