WA. & VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA (WWTI/WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – A pair of former north country college hockey players were selected in the Professional Women’s Hockey League’s expansion draft on Monday. Former Clarkson University standout Brooke McQuigge was the second pick from PWHL Vancouver. Former St. Lawrence University star Julia Gosling was the fourth pick from PWHL Seattle. McQuigge, a forward, totaled 53 goals and 111 points in five seasons with the Golden Knights.

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) – Collegiate baseball made its return to Northern New York and it was a successful one for the Watertown Rapids. Ben Hess belted a solo home run as the Watertown Rapids rallied past the Rochester Ridgemen for a 7-4 victory Friday night at the Alex T. Duffy Fairgrounds. This game was the first game for the Rapids in the New York Collegiate Baseball League after spending a number of seasons in the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League.

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) – A 48-year-old Watertown man is facing charges after allegedly evading police before crashing into a tree just feet away from residence on Thursday. According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, Anthony Belden was charged with resisting arrest and unlawful fleeing of a police officer in a motor vehicle. He was also given 15 traffic tickets along with reckless driving, speeding and other moving violations.

WATERTOWN, N.Y. (WWTI) – One north country bank will be planning a new full-service branch Downtown Watertown branch. In an announcement from their Facebook page, Carthage Savings Bank announced that it has has bought the building located at the corner of Washington Street and Mullin Street in Watertown. Retina-Vitreous Surgeons of CNY occupied the building before to Summit Drive in Watertown.
