    Local nonprofit Sustainable Resilient Longmont will host its annual Longmont Earth Day Celebration on Saturday. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Timberline PK-8, the free event will offer a variety of indoor and outdoor activities to promote sustainability and celebrate Earth Day. This year’s activities include an electric vehicle showcase, animal meet-and-greets, a clothing swap and a community bike ride. Timberline PK-8 sits at 233 E. Mountain View Ave.

    Residents can walk or run at the Emerge 5K to support mental health and wellness for Boulder County young people. The fundraising event is set for 8 a.m. May 4 at Boulder Reservoir. The annual 5K raises money for Rise Against Suicide, a Boulder County nonprofit group that facilitates free counseling sessions for local young people struggling with suicidal thoughts.

    With roots in Longmont, MeCo Coffee Collective is bringing espresso, pastries and community engagement to its newest destination – the Carbon Valley. Moving into the former home of Mountain Cowboy Brewing Company, MeCo now has a presence in downtown Frederick. The new store is the third location for the business, which also has coffee shops in Longmont and Lafayette. For MeCo co-owners Isaac Olson and Shane Stinn, a third storefront means more people to connect with.

    Boulder Rotary, a community service organization, will once again recognize local forces for good at its upcoming Service Above Self Gala. The gala, the biggest fundraiser for the club, honors non-Rotarians for their contributions to the Boulder area. The event is set for April 26 at the Boulder County Club, 7350 Clubhouse Road.

    The Niwot Road median between the northeast and southwest lanes of Colo. 119, also known as the Diagonal Highway, will be closed to all forms of transportation through 5 a.m. Wednesday. The temporary closure of the median area is for crews to prepare a bike underpass for the Colo. 119 Safety, Mobility and Bikeway Improvements Project. Niwot Road and Colo. 119 will be a “right-in, right-out” intersection during the construction, meaning that drivers will only be able to turn right onto Colo.
