GOSHEN — Dogapalooza, hosted by the Elkhart County Parks Department in partnership with the Elkhart County Humane Society, was held over the weekend on Saturday at Ox Bow County Park. “All the years that I’ve worked here, we have always had lots and lots of dog walkers, they come in daily — sometimes multiple times a day to walk their dogs,” said Krista Daniels, Interpretive Naturalist Manager for the Elkhart County Parks Department.

ELKHART — The Hall of Heroes Comic Con returns to Elkhart, doubling in size in its eighth year. This year’s Elkhart-based event, hosted by the Hall of Heroes at the Northern Indiana Event Center/ RV Hall of Fame, 21565 Executive Parkway, will feature around 200 vendors, regional artists and a host of Hollywood notables. GOSHEN — Chicagoland native and Augustine priest Cardinal Robert Prevost was elected to the office of the papacy on Wednesday, choosing the name Pope Leo XIV. Father Brian Florin, pastor at St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church, said on Thursday when he received the official word, he rushed to the meeting house and began ringing the bell for almost a half hour around the noontime hour.

GOSHEN — The former Embassy Coffee building on Main Street will soon have new occupants. Cortado Cafe, to be housed at 132 S. Main St., Goshen, is expected to open in late summer as an artisan bakery. The coffeehouse-cafe-bakery will be open during the week and Saturdays with reservation-only Friday and Saturday nights. The new shop owners are in the process of cleaning the location out.
