KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) — Gov. Patrick Morrisey has declared a state of emergency for 10 West Virginia counties amid flooding. The emergency includes Cabell, Greenbrier, Kanawha, Logan, Mercer, McDowell, Mingo, Raleigh, Summers and Wyoming counties, according to a news release from the governor's office. Morrisey urged all West Virginians to be vigilant and use caution as other parts of the state are affected by adverse weather.

Charleston, W.Va. — As the temperatures continue to hover around freezing, another issue some drivers may start to notice an increasing amount of potholes. Eyewitness News was invited along as crews closed the right lanes of Interstate 64 for pothole repairs. According to an expert familiar with road construction, Saturday's pothole removal equals roughly the same cost as paving 5000 feet of the interstate, under normal conditions.
