The KC Current lit up the scoreboard early and often against visiting Bay FC during a sunny Sunday afternoon National Women's Soccer League match at CPKC Stadium. By the time the dust settled in the Mother's Day game, the Current had beaten Bay FC 4-1. Forward Bia Zaneratto put one into the net in the third minute.

Sporting Kansas City didn't go shotless in Oregon. But the team from KC didn't win, either. Fans still getting settled into their seats might have missed the scoring during the Timbers' 1-0 win over Sporting in Saturday night's Major League Soccer match at Providence Park in Portland. Santiago Moreno put the host Timbers on the board in the 10th minute with a perfectly executed bicycle-kick goal.

As the final whistle approached, defender Jansen Miller turned his back to an L.A. Galaxy attacker and shielded the ball out of play for a goal kick ... only to be dragged down by the opponent. No foul was called. That was OK. Miller popped back up with both fists pumping and let out a yell. Sporting KC fans followed suit. That particular play, and others he's made like it, won't show up on Miller's stat sheet. But he doesn't have much room for additional statistics, anyway.

It's not a formula that's likely to be effective most days, but Sporting Kansas City on Sunday succeeding in beating the L.A. Galaxy without taking a single shot. Defense? That was no issue during Sporting's 1-0 Major League Soccer victory at Children's Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas. The lone goal of the match was an own-goal charged to the defending champion Galaxy in the 13th minute. Daniel Salloi's off-target shot ricocheted off L.A.'s Maya Yoshida and into the visitors' net.

The Kansas City Current went scoreless in Seattle for the second straight season. A first-half goal from a slightly familiar figure, Reign forward Lynn Biyendolo (formerly Williams), doomed the Current to its second straight National Women’s Soccer League loss, a 1-0 decision late Friday night at Lumen Field. AdvertisementThe Current (5-2-0) got shut out for the first time since September 13, 2024, a 0-0 draw in Orlando. It’s the team’s first shutout loss under coach Vlatko Andonovski.

The #SportingKC backline has given up just three goals in the last three games, after being porous early. Two of the goals are pure hat-tips the other way. But the goals have dried up a bit on the other end and there's now two losses in those three. On to St. Louis.

Four minutes of stoppage time. #SportingKC still pushing for the equalizer. #PORvSKC

Santiago Muñoz about to make his #SportingKC debut, coming on for Suleymanov. Gonna guess Muñoz goes out to the left as Thommy moves right. #PORvSKC
