Tied 1-all at half, Sporting KC sought to do what it has done a few times this year: earn points with a powerful second-half performance. But a couple of controversial decisions went against Sporting KC, which ended up down to 10 men for most of the second half in a 4-2 loss. Sporting KC kicked things off just eight minutes into the game with a stunning strike off the left foot of Shapi Suleymanov.

Sporting Kansas City had the lead early in Sunday evening's Major League Soccer match against host LAFC at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. It didn't last, though, as Sporting KC fell 3-1. Dejan Joveljic scored his 10th goal of the year - his first season with Sporting KC - in the 39th minute. Teammate Jansen Miller followed shortly after with a nice defensive save on the other end. But the KC defense fell short during first-half stoppage time when Eddie Segura equalized off a corner kick.

Sporting Kansas City had scored first in just five of 16 matches this season. Dejan Joveljic made it six in 17 on Sunday night in Southern California, but Sporting KC couldn’t hang on as LAFC rallied for a 3-1 victory at BMO Stadium. AdvertisementInterim Sporting KC coach Kerry Zavagnin called LAFC an elite team and said the club he’s overseeing is “not at the elite level of the league yet. “We are pursuing that,” Zavagnin continued.

The Kansas City Current rode two goals within the game's first 11 minutes to a 2-1 victory over New Jersey/New York Gotham FC on Saturday afternoon. Michelle Cooper opened the scoring after Chawinga won the ball high up the field. Chawinga dished to Cooper for an easy finish to make it 1-0 in the third minute. Eight minutes later, Cooper's cross to Chawinga was expertly finished by the league's reigning MVP for her seventh goal of the year.

Oof. Thommy injury new. List growing a bit in last couple weeks. #SportingKC

The #SportingKC Player Status Report for #LAFCvSKC presented by @ChildrensMercy. https://t.co/C1edzOOLI6

Welp. That's an own goal and it's 2-1. That's probably gonna be how it ends though. DiBernardo tried to get that ball and clear it but her touch goes into the net.

Yes, which I guess you can say affects that player needing to make the clearance? But a player was making a crashing back post run. So it shouldn't be that. Headed clearance is a deliberate play on ball IMO 🤷🏻♂️

@sperrydaniel94 Was the decision that Esther was offside and made a play on the ball before the clearance? Confused on the call, if I was a Gotham fan I also would feel hard done there.
