    Months after the inferno underneath the Big Mac Bridge, hope is rising from the ashes. In November, a massive blaze destroyed the 1,000 Hands Playground at Sawyer Point. In the months since the City of Cincinnati announced plans to rebuild, Midstates Recreation was named the contractor to design and rebuild the replacement on Thursday. According to Cincinnati Park, the firm was picked because it specializes in signature play spaces for children of all ages and disabilities.

    Ready to make a splash? A sure sign that summer is around the corner is pool season starting in Cincinnati. Ziegler Park Pool in Over-the-Rhine is open for the season. The pool is in the northwestern corner of Ziegler Park. It has a zero-depth entry shallow area, a central section featuring five regulation 25-meter lanes, and a deep end with a one-meter diving board and a climbing wall that arcs out slightly over the water. It costs $4 per person at the gate, and season passes are available.

On Monday, people took to social media, posting pictures showing cicadas breaking free from the ground and appearing in some places. So far, Brood XIV has been spotted in Loveland and Madeira.

    On Friday, the streets were a sea of blue as people lined the streets to honor a beloved deputy known for his courage and compassion. Thousands lined the procession route for fallen deputy Larry Henderson. Family, friends, and hundreds of fellow officers gathered Friday to bid farewell to Henderson, who was struck and killed while directing traffic at the University of Cincinnati's graduation ceremony. First responders throughout the Tri-State paid tribute Friday and said their final goodbyes.
