CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Several community leaders are making sure students in Central Illinois look great in new clothing for their prom later this year. A giveaway designed for students in the Champaign-Urbana area is currently set to help more students get more second-hand clothes for no cost. “The idea is to collect a bunch of stuff that people have sitting unused in their houses and get it to people who can use it,” organizers wrote on Facebook.

The Illinois Department of Transportation announced Thursday it will start the construction of a J-turn intersection at U.S. 51 and Leafland Street in Assumption on Monday. J-turn intersections require drivers to make a right turn and then a U-turn to access the opposite lane. This safety improvement will provide a safer intersection by reducing serious crashes.
