On Wednesday, roughly 50 schools from across the state gathered at Heritage Financial Park to watch the Hudson Valley Renegades play a game of baseball. Fifth-grade teacher Vanessa Paganelli teaches all subjects at Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. She said there's no better way to learn about science, technology, engineering and mathematics than to incorporate a game of baseball.

    LaGRANGE, N.Y. – Drowning is the fourth-leading cause of death among children ages 1 to 4, according to the state Department of Health. In an effort to stem that statistic, Dutchess County Department of Health officials have offered free drowning prevention seminars since 1990. Senior Public Health Sanitarian Gena Mitchell hosted a drowning prevention seminar Friday at Freedom Park. She said drowning is preventable and anyone can help save a life.
