    Students, staff, and family members all came out to support the Justice Scholars program and their art at the opening ceremony of “Hope Restored: Justice Scholars Student Exhibition,” on Feb 13. The purpose of this exhibition was to bring recognition to a group of people who were formerly incarcerated and give others the opportunity to feel and connect with their artwork.

    LBCC sent texts, emails and phone calls to students and staff, warning them to wear masks due to the poor air quality caused by California wildfires that began on Tuesday, Jan. 7, but both TTC and LAC remain open. A public safety alert was also sent by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) warning people to stay inside. “I got the safety alert around 7 a.m. and then the text from the school about 10 a.m,” LBCC student Elaine Pouvi said.

Dizon, the founder of Telifo Coffee company, brings culture and taste together to make a great cup of coffee from beans grown in the Philippines, always looking for ways to rediscover the perfect brew and keep the legacy of the island alive. Telifo is a Filipino coffee shop in Los Alamitos, California that opened in 2020 from the ground up, looking to expand to Long Beach soon.

    Spread holiday cheer and make a difference this season at Long Beach City College by donating to the Annual Toy Drive from Nov. 12 to Dec. 13 to bring joy to student parents in need with donations that can help brighten the holidays for families on campus. The toy drive is aimed at supporting student-parents on campus which offers a helping hand to those juggling academics and family responsibilities, ensuring that their children experience the joy and magic of the holidays.

    ASB hosted their third ASB After Dark event on Nov.19 on the Liberal Arts Campus to connect students with late classes to their community at LBCC. The event was also at the Trades Tech Community Learning Campus from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in between building DD and GG on Wednesday. Calvin Lewis, the representative of evening and online students, was one of several ASB  members who helped organize the event.
