Popping wheelies and swerving cars in the parking lot are how these high school students from Bellflower choose to spend their Thanksgiving break, biking around the Liberal Arts Campus while others sat in their classroom receiving instruction. The group who calls themselves “The B Town Hittas” said Long Beach sits at the top of cities where they ride due to the large amount of bike lanes and bike infrastructure in the city.

Two LBCC students got the opportunity to conduct independent chemistry and biochemistry research in a nine-week summer program by Cal State LA that aims to provide undergraduates and community college students with early research opportunities. These students were invited by LBCC science professors to speak at a Sip N Science event held recently, where attendees could ask questions about their experience and research while enjoying a meal.

LBCC Students and staff celebrated International culture day with food, games, and live performances of cultural art from around the world passed down through tradition at LAC on Nov. 19. The cultural performances started off with three drummers that brought the beautiful sounds of Africa to LBCC, Kosi Williams, Micheal Knight and Ashutu Johnson.

LBCC held their monthly Sip N Paint event where students and faculty gathered to celebrate Filipino American History Month by painting the Filipino hibiscus flower, gumamela and enjoying traditional Filipino food. Administration assistant for Transfer, Counseling, and Student Support Services Department, Bri Pinkerton was thrilled by the turnout of the event and how each person drew and interpreted the flower differently.
