The quest for the Canterra Seeds Cup begins on Friday in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. Bitter rivals collide as the Melville Millionaires (31-22-2-1) take on the Yorkton Terriers (33-21-2-0). Separated by just three points in the Viterra Division, the Terriers earned home ice advantage. The season series was technically split at four games apiece after a Yorkton was forced to take a forfeit in late October.

The Notre Dame Hounds will become the Warman Wolverines when the 2025/26 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League season begins. The team was officially sold in March, by Athol Murray College at Notre Dame to investors from Warman. The sale transfers ownership of the franchise, its players list and coaches. The logo is a side profile of a wolverine. The colours include red, which is a nod to the franchise’s roots, as the Hounds.

The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s (SJHL) board of Governors has granted conditional approval for the relocation of the Notre Dame Hounds to Warman, Sask. for the upcoming 2025-26 season. The move is subject to approval from Warman City Council at an upcoming meeting scheduled for Feb. 24 and a successful season ticket and corporate sponsorship drive.

Ogema, Saskatchewan’s Arleene Noga was a player, coach, mentor and ambassador of the game of baseball for most of her life and now, a Canadian Baseball Hall of Famer. Her daughter, Carol Lee Scott said getting the call from the Hall was “a surprise.”“A good majority of [my mom’s] life was involved with baseball,” she told CTV News. “She was almost embarrassed by it. But she’d be asked to help the boys out.”“She was that good,” Scott added.

She was by all accounts, one of the best baseball players in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League leaving her Senior A. team in Regina, Sask. to join the Fort Wayne Daisies of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL) in 1945.

Rams edge Huskies to improve to 2-0 on season The University of Regina Rams beat the University of Saskatchewan Huskies 33-28 on Friday night at Mosaic Stadium to improve to 2-0 on the young Canada West season. Tarick Polius has arrived. In his first start at home, the 6-foot-7 defender was a near unstoppable force. The University of Regina Rams overcame some offensive struggles and the loss of their starting quarterback on Friday night at McMahon Stadium to beat the University of Calgary Dinos 24-16. Noah Pelletier took over for the injured Owen Sieben late in the third quarter and completed 14 of 19 pass attempts for 125 yards and scored a rushing touchdown in the win.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders improved to 3-0 on the young CFL season with a 36-14 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Sunday at Mosaic Stadium. Riders quarterback Trevor Harris left the game just before halftime with an apparent left leg injury. He did return to the sideline in the third quarter, and threw some warm-up passes but did not return to game action. Harris completed 16-of-21 passes for 177 yards, two touchdowns and an interception before exiting the contest.

Saskatchewan Roughriders quarterback Trevor Harris is ‘questionable’ to return after taking a hit late in the first half against the Hamilton Tiger-cats. Harris, 38, took a hit with 44 seconds remaining in the first half of the team’s home opener against the Hamilton Tiger-cats and remained on the field for a moment. He was seen holding his left leg before walking slowly to the sidelines, eventually to the locker room. Harris missed most of last season after suffering a right leg injury.
