Sixers are back although Joel Embiid isn’t ready to roll just yet. So Tyrese Maxey and co. will look to take on Trae Young and the Hawks and perhaps get a close look at potential trade target Dejounte Murray. Photo by Mitchell Leff/Getty Images The Philadelphia 76ers have hit a slide that coincided with Joel Embiid’s playing on an injured ankle and knee recently. (While Joel may have been able to maintain a historic double-double streak, I’m not sure many hometown fans care about that stuff as much as they do the reigning MVP remaining healthy during the 82-game grind.) The team has dropped four of their last seven games, and after losing two straight, they’re just 5-5 over their last ten.

Photo by Juan Ocampo/NBAE via Getty Images Philadelphia 76ers fans are wondering if Daryl Morey is going to spring a trade. If Morey targeted a player like Atlanta’s Dejounte Murray, as we analyzed earlier this week, or a supermax two-time All-Star like Zach LaVine, then it might cut into the summer “max cap space plan” they might have in mind too.

Photo by Tim Nwachukwu/Getty Images Joel Embiid has missed five of the 76ers’ last seven games due to injury and the team is just 3-4 in that span. They’re now five games back from Boston for the East’s top seed, and 1.5 back from Milwaukee for the No. 2 seed. A healthy Embiid out there certainly might have changed that. So where do things stand on the injury front now? Sighs. Embiid first returned to the team’s lineup after missing the 76ers’ prior four games with an ankle issue.
