LACEY, NJ — Residents in the Bamber Lake section of Lacey are not under any elevated threat due to the ongoing 12,000-acre wildfire burning, local authorities said. The New Jersey Forest Fire Service's helicopter observations combined with patrols on the ground confirmed there "is not elevated threat to Bamber Lake," Lacey police said Wednesday afternoon. However, residents will likely experience heavy smoke throughout the day. There is no intention for evacuations to be ordered in the region.

BARNEGAT, NJ — A forest fire is burning in Barnegat as of Tuesday afternoon, authorities said. The fire is about five acres in size, Barnegat police said in an alert. It's west of Route 532 in the area of Jones Road and Bryant Road on the border of Barnegat and Waretown.
