A father and his two young children were killed after a head-on collision on March 22nd on Williamson Valley Road near Prescott. Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene near Levie Lane. YCSO said a preliminary investigation indicated the driver, Jesse Forman of Chino Valley, was driving a Toyota 4Runner carrying his three young children and the kids’ mother. YCSO provided updates to the investigation on Thursday. Forman was traveling at about 60 to 70 mph at the time of impact.

A train collided with a U-Haul trailer Saturday afternoon at the Flagstaff intersection of Route 66 and Ponderosa Parkway. The impact created a significant amount of debris which caused a disruption in the area for over an hour. A Flagstaff visitor failed to pull their vehicle and attached U-Haul trailer up enough while stopped at the intersection. No one was injured and the driver was cited in the incident.

Police in Clarkdale arrested a man Monday who was seen outside of the Clarkdale Jerome School and tried to grab a student at around 1 p.m. Witnesses told police the man was filming in the girls’ bathroom located outside near the soccer field. When students entered the restroom, he grabbed one student by the arm. The student was able to get away. The man then scaled the fence and left toward a wooded area.

Loree Payne has stepped down as NAU women’s basketball coach to become the new head coach at Santa Clara University. Payne leaves NAU as the program’s all-time winningest coach, with an overall record of 136-116, including a Big Sky Conference record of 88-62. The investigation continues into the Legado Luxury Apartments Fire in Prescott Valley, that started in the early morning hours of April 1st, 2024. The 685-thousand square foot building, and adjacent parking structure, was under construction at the time the fire started. When the first crews arrived, the structure was fully engulfed in flames and was a complete loss. The estimated value of loss to the structure is $60-million.
