Queensland researchers have used an Indigenous bush remedy to develop a healing gel that could replace expensive wound dressings and have a "life-changing" impact on chronic wound sufferers. The gel uses lemon myrtle oil and has been tested by University of Southern Queensland researchers. They looked at its effectiveness against bacteria such as golden staph, which can cause serious infections such as blood poisoning and pneumonia.

Nestled on the banks of Barmbah Creek in Queensland's South Burnett, Ficks Crossing was meant to be the spot for a boys' getaway for Jack McLennan. But the picturesque area is now the focus of an "unusual" missing persons case, with fears Mr McLennan, 27, has been the victim of foul play. The personal trainer, who had been working in Kingaroy, was last seen with a friend on October 4 at Ficks Crossing, near the town of Murgon, three hours north-west of Brisbane.
