You can register by clicking here for JP Open Studios which will take place on Sept. 27 and 28 from 11 am to 6 pm. This year, registration opened for JP residents on May 18 before the general public on May 20.

These are a few of the questions asked during the Mind Challenge, a trivia tournament for senior citizens co-created by Phil Levine ’71. “Seniors need to use their minds regularly … and Mind Challenge enhances socialization, because loneliness is a very serious issue for seniors,” said Levine, who co-founded Mind Challenge with Art Greenberg seven years ago.

The owners of a Kenton Road house were notified by the Boston Landmarks Commission that they need to treat the house as a landmarked site until the commission votes on whether the house from the 1850s should be given official landmark status. The hearing will be on June 10 to study a report that the city funded to determine whether the house at 19 Kenton Road should be landmarked. Previously, neighbors petitioned the city to provide the property with landmark status.

Jamaica Plain has a rich history and you can learn more about individual neighborhoods such as Hyde Square, Sumner Hill, or Stony Brook through Jamaica Plain Historical Society’s spring/summer walking tours. The tours are on Saturdays, and the first one is on May 31 of the Stony Brook neighborhood. Others tours will focus on Green Street, Jamaica Pond, Woodbourne, Monument Square, Sumner Hill, and Hyde Square. Each tour will be given twice during the season.
