After being arrested in 2021, a Muscatine woman recently was sentenced in the Southern Iowa District Court to 45 years in federal prison for producing and possessing child sex abuse materials. According to public court documents, Jessica Rochelle Peters, 37, produced seven videos and three photos containing child sexual abuse material in July 2021, including videos of Peters sexually abusing a minor victim. Peters sent the videos and photos to a man in Indiana in exchange for money.

After-school elementary students at the Flickinger Center recently enjoyed a visit from the BrainMinder Puppets and members of the Muscatine Pilot Club. The puppets shared information about brain safety, bullying, the use of helmets, and safety on the playground and in sports. Students attending the presentation received a BrainMinders coloring book and special logo sticker. BrainMinders is Pilot International’s program designed to teach safety to children and help prevent brain injuries.

Spring may be springing, but the most recent movie from two Muscatine writers with a strong tie to the Christmas season is set to screen in Davenport this week. Friday evening, the people of the Quad-Cities will have one of few chances to see a comedy/mystery movie written and filmed in their own backyard with “Death by Fruitcake,” the story of a mother and daughter amateur detective duo from the award-winning Trash ‘n’ Treasure mystery series.
