NEW YORK CITY — Luigi Mangione has been indicted on four federal charges in connection with the shooting death of United Healthcare CEO Brian Thompson last December. Mangione has been charged with two counts of stalking, firearms offense and murder through the use of a firearm, a charge that which is death penalty eligible. The 26-year-old Maryland native is accused of murdering Thompson in Midtown this past December and then leading police on a five-day manhunt, Patch previously reported.

NEW YORK CITY — U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced on Thursday that the Trump administration would take over the Penn Station renovation project from the MTA. Amtrak, backed by USDOT, will now spearhead the remainder of the renovation project. Federal officials said that the move would save taxpayers $120 million by putting Amtrak in charge. “President Trump has made it clear: the days of reckless spending and blank checks are over,” Duffy said in a statement.

BROOKLYN, NY β An 89-year-old driver is recovering after he suffered a medical episode and crashed his car into the water in Brooklyn, police said. The incident happened on Wednesday near E. 66 Street and Whitman Drive around 12 p.m., police said. The elderly driver had some type of medical episode, causing him to lose control of the vehicle and crash through a metal gate, landing upside down in the East Mill Basin waterway.

NEW YORK CITY — Six hundred unionized workers of Manhattan Beer & Beverage Distributors ended their strike on Thursday after reaching an agreement on a new contract with improved pensions, officials said. The beer delivery workers had been on strike since Monday in an effort to get a better contract that protects their pensions and retirement security. "We're pleased to announce we've reached an agreement and the strike is over," Manhattan Beer Distributors said in a statement.
