An energy company controlled by the country of Norway has withdrawn its proposal to build the state’s largest battery storage facility in Carmel on the Putnam-Westchester line, handing a victory to the grassroots campaign that sought to stop it. The town of Carmel received the news on March 11 in a terse email from Will Frost, senior project developer for East Point Energy, a subsidiary of Equinor, a corporation that's 67% owned by the Norwegian government.
