Grede to close Alabama foundry

Grede LLC, headquartered in Southfield, Michigan, will close its iron foundry in Brewton, Alabama, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act notice the company filed April 1 with the Alabama Department of Commerce. The plant has been in operation since 1976. The plant is expected to close May 22, affecting 160 workers, Grede indicated to the state, each of whom are represented by the United Steelworkers union.
