Well, anyone who's lived here for a while will testify that's entirely possible. We started the week with several inches of sloppy, wet snow in some parts of the state. And now forecasters say the end of the week will be even warmer than last weekend.      ☀️ Billings and Great Falls are expected to hit the mid-to-upper 80s by Saturday, with Missoula and the Bitterroot Valley potentially seeing the first 90-degree readings of the year.

Montana's fire season is off to an unexpected early start after a major fire erupts at the north end of the Big Hole Valley, burning over 1500 acres. Fire investigators are unsure what started the Sawlog Fire, which is burning on Forest Service and BLM land northeast of Wisdom. They say no prescribed burning operations were underway in the area where the blaze was first spotted at 50-to-70 acres on Thursday afternoon.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers becomes the latest agency to announce some curtailed operations this summer because of federal budget cuts, impacting recreation areas around Fort Peck Reservoir. The Omaha District, which includes Montana, says staffing shortages will mean less maintenance, repairs, litter pickup, and staff response times. Restrooms and trash will only be collected three days per week.

If someone asks you where the most expensive homes in Montana are, you'd likely answer "Bozeman" without question.      -Even you might be surprised how expensive real estate has become. Though it's been two years since the pandemic spike, Gallatin County's economy has shown few signs of slowing down, especially with the price of single-family homes.

Managers of the Bitterroot National Forest say a Utah firm will continue exploration for "rare earth" elements in the Upper Bitterroot Valley this year, but won't need additional operational plans approved.

I know, I know. It's "May in Montana". But still seems silly to be in the mid-80s Saturday and then have snow on the passes this morning doesn't it? View from the MDT webcam on MacDonald Pass this morning... #MTwx https://t.co/uB2UJBpWSG
