DARLINGTON, S.C. (WBTW) — Darlington City Councilwoman Elaine Reed is facing a third-degree assault-and-battery charge after her arrest by SLED, records show. Reed was booked into the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center shortly after noon on Thursday and released after posting a $500 personal-recognizance bond. Jail records indicate her arrest stemmed from an incident on Oct. 5.

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — An on-duty Horry County Police Department motorcycle officer suffered “significant injuries” Thursday morning when his motorcycle crashed into the back of a an SUV that was stopped in traffic, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The officer, whose name has not been released, was taken to the hospital after the crash near Red Bluff and Sandpiper roads, Horry County police said Friday morning in a Facebook post.
