It happened around 3 p.m. at a vacant building under construction on Ninth Avenue off 38th Street. According to officials, a small spider crane on the roof was lifting a second small crane from the ninth floor to the 10th floor when the crane on the roof became dislodged.

    2 police officers shot in Newark, New Jersey, sources say One police officer was killed and another was injured in a shooting Friday evening in Newark, New Jersey. Both officers were members of the Newark Police Department. The shooting occurred just after 6:30 p.m. near Broadway and Carteret Avenue.  Both officers were taken to University Hospital in Newark, the Essex County prosecutor’s office said. The Newark police union confirms one officer died at the hospital.

It happened just after 3 p.m. on a Manhattan-bound L train. According to police, the 58-year-old victim was fighting with another passenger over a seat when that passenger stabbed the 58-year-old in the back of the neck with an unknown object, then bit him. The victim got off the train at the Graham Avenue station in Williamsburg.

    NEW YORK — A woman gave birth on board a New York City subway Wednesday, the MTA says. It happened around 11:30 a.m. on a southbound W train in Manhattan. Video shows bystanders helping after baby born on subwayAccording to the MTA, multiple passengers alerted the conductor that a woman inside a train car had just given birth. "I did not believe that I actually witnessed it," subway rider Bryanna Brown said.
