    Police on the South Shore are searching for two people who allegedly broke into a fabric company last week and vandalized the business by pouring syrup over electronics and leaving racial slurs around the office. The Plymouth Police Department released photos of the two suspects on Tuesday and asked anyone with information to contact investigators. According to police, the two suspects broke into Eastex Fabric at Cordage Park on the night of May 3.

    A New Hampshire woman has pleaded guilty and been sentenced to serve time in prison for slapping a town election officer in the face, authorities announced Tuesday. Tina Thomas, 54, of Raymond, New Hampshire pleaded guilty to one felony count of assaulting an election officer, the Attorney General’s office said in a statement. She was accused of slapping Raymond Town Moderator Pro Tem Jonathan Wood during the town’s municipal and school elections on March 28.

    A Massachusetts sheriff is urging the public to be on the lookout for phone scams involving callers posing as law enforcement after a Bourne resident lost more than $68,000 to fraudsters. The Bourne man contacted the Norfolk County Sheriff’s office on Friday to report the incident, the department said in a statement. The man said he received numerous calls starting on April 28 from two men claiming they worked for the sheriff’s office.

    Authorities are investigating two incidents of arson at the former Fernald School in Waltham and urging anyone with information to come forward. The two fires in April may be related to other blazes at the old campus in January and in December, Waltham and state fire officials said in a statement. “There have been four fires in that area since December,” Waltham Police Chief Kevin O’Connell said in the statement.

    A 78-year-old man has been identified by authorities as the driver who was killed Saturday in Cohasset when his pickup truck was struck by a commuter rail train. John Canney, a resident of Cohasset, suffered fatal injuries when his truck was hit around 11:20 a.m. at the Beechwood Street railroad crossing, the Norfolk County District Attorney’s office said on Sunday. He was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.
