More than 50 people of all ages turned for the Santa Fun Run organised by Market Rasen Rotary Club. Everyone got into the early festive spirit dressing up to take on two laps of the designated route, starting and finishing at the town's leisure centre. Rotarian Dianne Tuckett said: "Thanks go to everyone who took part. There was a great turn out from Market Rasen Running Club too, which was very much appreciated.

The Lincolnshire Wolds & Coast Churches Festival takes place over the first full weekends in September – 7,8,14 and 15 – when 100 churches throw open their doors to celebrate their unique architecture and heritage, beautiful tranquillity and spirituality, and their wonderful welcome.

When the very popular Jossals cafe and bistro closed its doors earlier this year, there were fears the building would be left empty – but love is showing the way forward. Co-owner of the former Jossals, Jo Parsons has transformed the interior of the building in Queen Street into a showcase for her new wedding and events business. Having worked in hospitality for most of her working life, Jo said she wasn’t ready to retire and so has taken on a franchise with Ambience Venue Styling.

A full day of family fun was enjoyed by the many visitors to Haith’s last week. It was the Louth firm’s first open day event since opening the doors to their Bolingbroke Road site in March this year. The event was organised by Customer Champion Julianne Jessett, along with colleague Amanda. Julianne said: “There has been a lovely turn out of people, with a great community feel. Our aim was to promote nature and the environment with our range of stalls and talks.

A musical event at Caistor next month is looking to celebrate nature’s diversity and the diversity of people in our county. Nick McCann and Maura Cook Collins want to create a pop-up choir have issued an invitation for everyone to get involved. Nick said: “We have written an album of songs about the wonder of nature on ourplanet and the need to pass it on to our children and theirs… and theirs… and theirs… and theirs … and theirs.

De Aston School, in Market Rasen, is pleased to report outstanding achievements by its Year 13 students in their A levels and Vocational Qualifications this summer. Pupils achieved top grades across the full range of A level and Vocational courses. Subjects achieving the very highest A*/A grades included: A level Chemistry, A level English Literature, A level Maths, A level Media Studies, A level Physics and Level 3 Criminology.

Keeping body and mind healthy, as well as having fun, has seen a sports group grow in numbers – and be joined by some younger players for a recent fundraiser. Wolds Wanderers Walking Football Group formed seven years ago and has gone from strength to strength. Living up to their ‘Wanderers’ name, they have moved from their original Caistor home to Market Rasen’s Leisure Centre, where there are three games each week for the over 50s.
Digital archive helps get the past right up to date

A treasure trove of pictures, documents and memories of the area’s past has been created to view online in the comfort of your own home. Through the joint working of Caistor Heritage Trust and Caistor Local History Society, Caistor Digital Archive has content relating to more than 150 towns and villages situated in the northern half of Lincolnshire and beyond. Among the various topics can be found hundreds of photographs plus video and oral recordings – and it is continually being added to.
Sensory garden plans ring out

Ambitious plans are being put in place to create a sensory garden for the whole community to benefit from. The project is the idea of members and staff at The Old Station Group – a day centre for adults with learning disabilities – and has received the backing of Market Rasen Town Council. The area identified is part of Bell Park in Jameson Bridge Street and the group has already started to clear the overgrown site so they can create their design.
