Tractor-trailers will not be allowed to park in residential, single-family neighborhoods under an ordinance that Orangeburg County Council has passed. Council gave third reading approval to the ordinance during its April 21 meeting. No one spoke during a public hearing held on the issue. The ordinance will prohibit vehicles with a capacity greater than two tons used for commercial, industrial or construction purposes in such neighborhoods.

Orangeburg County Council moved forward with an ordinance banning new sewage and animal waste processing facilities while it studies the issue. The Orangeburg County Council gave second reading approval to an ordinance establishing a temporary moratorium on such facilities during its April 21 meeting. The Downtown Orangeburg Revitalization Association is poised to help kick off the 52nd Festival of Roses with a street dance on Friday. The street dance will be held from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Friday, May 2, at the Downtown Market Pavilion located at 1326 Russell St. in Orangeburg. Moses and The Promise Land Band will be the featured entertainment at the event. DORA board member Russ Fender said the street dance has been a signature event leading up to the Festival of Roses.
