The Bamberg County School District has narrowed its search for a new superintendent down to three finalists. The finalists are Dr. Chris Ballenger, Dr. Jacqueline Inabinette and Dr. Davion Lewis. The Bamberg County School board planned on conducting interviews with the finalists Wednesday and Thursday before a final selection is made, according to attorney Anyah Barber. She works for Boykin & Davis LLC, which has been conducting the superintendent search.

Calhoun County High School will hold its commencement exercises at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at the school, located at 150 Saints Ave. in St. Matthews. The ceremony will be held on the football. In the event of inclement weather, it will be held in the school gymnasium. Shamiya Adams is the school valedictorian. Nyia Johnson is the school salutatorian. Early voting for the Town of Olar’s election, which includes races for mayor and four at-large town council seats, begins Tuesday, May 27. Walter O’Rear has filed for mayor. The following individuals have filed for Olar Town Council seats: Kathy Dickerson Hudson, Donald Cool, Mildred Cool and Ray L. Smoak. The early voting period for the election begins on Tuesday, May 27 and ends on Friday, June 6. The election is Tuesday, June 10.
