In 1953, Ollie Stewart, a correspondent for The Afro-American newspaper, wrote a guidebook to the French capital aimed at Black travelers. Nearly 75 years later, his grandniece follows in his footsteps. The sheer extravagance of the Alexandre III bridge, with its cheeky cherubs, smiling nymphs and gold accents, made it a destination in Ollie Stewart's time and today. Credit... The book's author, Ollie Stewart, was my father's uncle, born in Louisiana in 1906.
