KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — This week is National Violence Prevention Week and the City of Knoxville is providing activities and outreach to promote safety. On Tuesday, ReNOUNce DeNOUNce Gang Intervention Program held an event at the Walter P. Taylor Boys and Girls Club. There were nearly 40 kids there enjoying time outside while learning about violence prevention. We spoke with ReNOUNCe DeNOUNce and the Boys and Girls Club on the importance of hosting an event like this.

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — It has been one week since the passing of Pope Francis. Tributes in his honor have been held around the world. Monday night, the Diocese of Knoxville held a special memorial mass. It was a somber but spiritual affair for all those who attended mass at the Cathedral of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — With night two of the NFL draft in the books, a local high school product remains on the the board. Elijah Young played his high school football at South-Doyle High School before heading to Missouri and Western Kentucky for college ball. The room at Emerald Youth was full of family and friends as the teams made their selections in this years draft. Elijah Young saying he will bring a lot to whichever team picks him. “I feel like I’m a versatile back,” Young said.
