WVLT-TV, also known as channel 8, is a TV station based in Knoxville, Tennessee. It is affiliated with CBS and MyNetworkTV. The station is part of Gray Television and is co-owned with WBXX-TV, a CW affiliate licensed in Crossville (channel 20). Both WVLT-TV and WBXX-TV operate from shared studios located on Papermill Drive, which is near the intersection of I-40 and I-75 on Knoxville's west side. The transmitter for WVLT-TV is situated on Sharp's Ridge in North Knoxville.

SPARTA, Tenn. (WSMV) - The National Transportation Safety Board has released its report in the crash that left three dead in Sparta, Tennessee, in late April. The NTSB reports that a Mooney M20TN, N242RE, was substantially damaged and the pilot and two passengers were killed at about 11:47 a.m. on April 26. Earlier in the day, the plane departed from Alabaster, Alabama, after boarding two passengers and cargo to return to the Upper Cumberland Regional Airport (SRB) in Sparta.
