PERTH AMBOY, N.J. (PIX11) — An investigation is underway after a 1-year-old boy was found unresponsive in a daycare center in Perth Amboy, New Jersey on Friday, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor. Authorities received a call about an unresponsive baby at a residential daycare on McKeon Street just after 10:30 a.m. on Friday, officials said. The 1-year-old was rushed to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police report.

NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — To help give New Yorkers an escape from the extreme heat, some cooling spots will stay open a little later this week. State-run swimming pools, cooling facilities and parks will have extended opening hours on Tuesday and Wednesday, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced on Tuesday. In the five boroughs, cooling centers can include libraries, older adult care centers, offices of councilmembers, community centers, YMCA facilities and more. NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — As extreme heat continues to blanket New York City, Con Edison has issued an energy conservation request for the five boroughs. The energy company is asking New Yorkers to reduce the use of energy-intensive appliances to help keep Con Edison service reliable. Currently, almost 2,000 Con Edison customers are without power in New York City. The company is also reducing power in the areas of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Bushwick, Greenpoint and Williamsburg in Brooklyn.

NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) — Tuesday marks Election Day in New York City in which residents will vote for the next mayor, comptroller, public advocate and more. To cast your ballot in both the primary and general elections, there are deadlines by which New Yorkers need to be registered to vote. For the primary, the deadline to register to vote was June 14. Those who missed the registration deadline won’t be allowed to vote in the primary however, there is still time to register for the general election.
