A Turlock man was convicted of murder by a jury in the 2022 death of his infant daughter. Joseph Rendon, 26, is facing life in prison on charges including felony child abuse causing death, according to the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office. He will be sentenced July 14. On April 13, 2022, Rendon was watching his two-month-old daughter, Araceli, at his residence alone. Around 3 p.m. on that day, Rendon took Araceli to the hospital and said she had stopped breathing after he fed her.

A Modesto real estate agent is stirring up conversation with his opinions on pizza. Damien Wilson, who works at PMZ Real Estate, posted a list of pizza review rankings in a Facebook group called Pizzaholics that boasts over 314,000 members across the country. This list garnered more than 3,400 reactions, over 3,800 comments and 814 shares. Twelve Stanislaus County pizza shops are on his list, which makes sense after learning that Wilson works and lives in Modesto.

The Turlock Police Department has released more details regarding the discovery of handguns found at a middle school Monday morning, one of which was “accidentally” discharged. Around 10:30 a.m., a Turlock Unified School District maintenance worker discovered a pile consisting of two blankets and a jacket on the Dutcher Middle School Campus, TPD said. The items were found in a maintenance area where electrical equipment is housed, near a fence line and close to a neighboring apartment complex.
