Codey Arena played host to this year's Non-Public State Semifinals and holy toledo, there were some great matchups on hand. A rematch of last year's final Delbarton and St. Augustine, and Don Bosco taking on Christion Brothers Academy. A rematch of last year’s state final started the day off with Delbarton looking for revenge on the Hermits. The Green Wave came into the game leading the season series 2-1, which included a Semi-Final victory over St. Augustine in the Gordon Cup Semis.

After another brutal loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning, all eyes are on General Manager Tom Fitzgerald and head coach Lindy Ruff. At the beginning of the season, many assumed the Devils were a lock to make the playoffs and even be a cup contender. Last season, the Devils set multiple franchise records and made it to the second round of the playoffs, beating their rivals, the New York Rangers, in the first round. After 58 games this season, the Devils are not even in a playoff position.

High School basketball teams met at the RAC (Yes, I know it's called Jersey Mike’s Arena but to a lot of us it will always be the RAC) for “The Battle in New Jersey” tournament. Dylan Harper did not play today but the Scarlet Knights other top commit Ace Bailey played and made headlines. Bailey and McEachern squared off against Camden and Ace wasted no time showing the Jersey crowd what they can look forward to next year.

2023 showed us that New Jersey high school athletes are some of the best athletes in the country. Whether it be during the Fall, Winter, or Spring, someday we may see these young athletes in the pros. Here are the finalists for JSN Boys High School Athlete of the Year:Dylan Harper: The Rutgers commit had a 2023 to remember as a junior at Don Bosco. Last season, Harper averaged 23.4 points a game which ranked 3rd in the state of New Jersey.

The 2023-34 high school basketball season gets underway this week and the scene around New Jersey is expected to be electric once again. This year, New Jersey features two nationally ranked teams to start the season. On the girls side, Morris Catholic enters the season ranked No. 11 in the country according to MaxPreps.com. After a 28-3 campaign a season ago, William Lovett has his team prepared for a national schedule this season.
