Leaders at Consolidated Nuclear Security and the University of Tennessee signed an agreement May 30 to create a new center in Oak Ridge focused on nuclear deterrence, national and global security, and nuclear energy efforts. Consolidated Nuclear Security manages and operates the Y-12 National Security Complex, a nuclear weapons facility that stores and processes the nation's stockpile of bomb-grade uranium.

The first reading of the proposed Fiscal Year 2026 budget for the city of Oak Ridge will be held Monday. The Oak Ridge City Council meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in the Central Services Complex, 100 Woodbury Lane. The budget proposal must be approved on second and final reading before it is officially adopted. A public hearing where citizens can speak, will be held before that second reading, which will be held at 7 p.m. June 9 in the Central Services Complex.
