SARASOTA — Sarasota and Manatee athletes and coaches received 34 awards on May 30 at the annual Sarasota-Manatee High School Sports Awards Show. Award nominees, family, and friends gathered at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Center in Sarasota to honor male and female athletes in categories such as Player of the Year, Boys and Girls Athlete of the Year, Coach of the Year, Team of the Year, and the Courage and High School Spirit Awards.

Readers can then vote in the online poll to determine the Athlete of the Week. The winner of the April 21-26 poll was Venice High baseball player Jonathan Mauro with 26.81% of the vote.
