Loved ones gathered at Memorial Park in Taunton Friday night, a quarter of a century after the unsolved disappearance. Attendees wore Melo’s favorite color, yellow, with a dragonfly representing her. They stressed the importance of never giving up hope for a break in the case.

BOSTON — A push to ban cell phones in public schools across the state of Massachusetts is gaining traction on Beacon Hill. Several bills to craft a statewide cellphone ban policy were pitched by lawmakers at a Joint Committee on Education hearing on Tuesday. If the legislation becomes law, all districts in the state would be required to have rules that prevent students from accessing their phones while class is in session.

CHELSEA, Mass. — A Chelsea family is searching for answers after they say a high school graduate was detained by ICE days after receiving his diploma. 20-year-old Geovani De La Cruz Catalan graduated from Chelsea High School last Saturday. His stepmother, school committee member Mayra Balderas, handed him his diploma on that momentous occasion. Their joy turned to despair on Wednesday after De La Cruz stopped by the family’s home on Addison Street to pick up some tools for a job.

ORLEANS, Mass. — Friends of a Cape Cod couple are grappling with the news of two bodies found and a sunken boat located on the ocean floor. Shawn Arsenault, 64, and his girlfriend, Felicia Daley, 54, left Rock Harbor in Orleans Sunday to go clamming in a 30-foot vessel called “Seahorse”. The harbormaster noticed Arsenault’s truck still in the parking lot on Tuesday morning, and an intensive search began.
