    DEDHAM, Mass. — Jury selection in the retrial of Karen Read, the woman accused in the death of her police officer boyfriend, continued Thursday, with the court reaching a panel of 16 jurors. Judge Beverly Cannone said the empanelment process would resume on Monday because she wants a jury of 18 people, including six alternates. As of right now, the jury consists of eight men and eight women, including a group of 12 deliberators and four alternates. The case will not be in court on Friday.

    DEDHAM, Mass. — Karen Read’s lawyers filed an emergency petition to the U.S. Supreme Court to delay her retrial while they review the charges against her as no new jurors were added to her case Monday. Read’s defense had previously asked the country’s highest court to review and drop two of the three criminal charges against her: second-degree murder and leaving the scene of a collision resulting in death.

Breaking: Karen Read’s emergency application to stay or postpone her trial has been denied by a single justice according to SCOTUS-PIO My understanding is that is the appeal could still be considered but the trial won’t be stopped or delayed

Done for the day. 3 new candidates selected today for a total of 15 seats filled. 8 men 7 women A number of jury candidates were just sent home w/out being questioned due to time.
