    PONTIAC — A plan to preserve and enhance Pontiac's Centennial Plaza will be put out to bid again after the city failed to receive a proposal that fell in line with project's projected cost. Located behind the Route 66 Museum in downtown Pontiac, Centennial Plaza is home to some iconic landmarks of Route 66, including the city's famous Route 66 shield mural. It is also home to the Bob Waldmire Road Yacht, a school bus that was modified into a mobile home that traveled along Route 66.

    BLOOMINGTON — The Bloomington Fire Department is mourning the loss of firefighter Kyle Walder, who died Sunday in a scuba diving accident in Kentucky. He was 31. Bloomington Fire Chief Cory Matheny said in a news release Walder was an integral part of the fire department family, respected for his dedication and his spirit.

    BLOOMINGTON — Construction could begin next month on Home Sweet Home Ministries’ plans to build a 56-bed shelter village for the city’s homeless population, a project that will be known as “The Bridge.”About 100 residents visited the Bloomington Public Library on Friday to learn more about plans for the project, first announced in March to aid the community's growing homeless population.
