President Donald Trump signed an executive order Monday, May 12, putting pharmaceutical companies on notice that they have 30 days to reduce prices on prescription drugs, particularly those purchased through the nation’s entitlement Medicare and Medicaid health programs. “The principle is simple ― whatever the lowest price paid for a drug in other developed countries, that is the price that Americans will pay,” Trump said in his remarks announcing the action.

The northwest Arkansas company said it would eliminate such dyes in its products by the end of May. The announcement comes shortly after PepsiCo, one of the largest manufacturers of snack foods and beverages, announced a similar initiative, which would eliminate such dyes by year’s end.
