Investigations are ongoing in Tramore following what Gardaí have described as an assault, which occurred in the Beech Park area of the town. Last night shortly before 7pm, Gardaí responded to reports of an incident involving young males. A male youth, aged 17, was injured in the course of the incident and taken to University Hospital Waterford for treatment of his injuries. It's understood that a knife, described as a machete-type implement, was used in the course of the assault.

Marcus O'Neill (34) has appeared before Waterford District Court accused of the murder of Tramore woman Gillian Curran. The accused has been in custody since January 28th with the court awaiting the preparation of the Book of Evidence. When he last appeared, Mr. O'Neill stated a desire to remain in custody on grounds of safety. He has been remanded in custody in Cloverhill Prison, with court appearances facilitiated through the videolink service.

A 42-year-old man has been sent forward for trial in Waterford Circuit Criminal Court on a charge of dangerous driving causing death. Adrian Doyle, Ard Glas, Abbey Road, Ferrybank appeared before Judge Kevin Staunton this morning in Waterford District Court. The court heard that the Book of Evidence is now ready and the DPP has consented for the matter to be sent forward for trial. Mr. Doyle will appear in the Circuit Criminal Court in Waterford on the term beginning June 18th, 2025.

The National Lottery has today (22nd April) revealed that Tramore, Co. Waterford is the location to have sold the winning Lotto Jackpot ticket in Saturday night’s draw. The Lotto player purchased their Quick Pick ticket, worth €4,038,682, on Wednesday, 9th April. The winning numbers for Saturday night’s Lotto draw were: 6, 18, 25, 26, 36, 43 and the Bonus was 44. The Tramore winner becomes the 6th Lotto Jackpot winner of 2025.

A popular and long-standing shop in Ferrybank is to close its doors in the coming weeks. Proprietors of Spar, located on Fountain Street in Ferrybank, have made the 'difficult decision' to cease trading in early May. In a statement issued on their social media, they referenced the difficulties of generating a profit in recent times.
